Whitby falls to Brantford in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Iroquois - Rink#1 Sat, Nov 08, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brantford Blast's Jeff Caister scored 10 seconds into overtime to beat the Whitby Dunlops, 4-3 (OT). Brantford came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Blast fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Whitby's Brett McConnachie at 10:21 in the second period. Brantford knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Dustin Alcock at 7:52 in the third period. Alcock was all over the ice for the Blast, as he tallied two goals in the win. Brantford stifled the Dunlops' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blast kept Whitby's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Guy made 40 saves on 44 shots. Derek Medieros also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via Dave Russell and Andrew Marcoux, who contributed one each and Brandon Dietrich and Joel Prpic, who each chipped in two. The Dunlops could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Whitby puts an average of 5.7 pucks into the net per game. Brantford was unable to stop the Dunlops from sending pucks towards the net, and Whitby eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Dunlops found themselves short handed often, totaling 46 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays. Whitby was helped by Shane Terry, who registered one goal. Terry scored 9:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Whitby. Jared Docking assisted on the tally. Whitby additionally got points from Docking, who also racked up one goal and one assist and McConnachie, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Chris Purves, who had two and TJ Kemp and Adam Van Dam, who contributed one each. Anthony Marshall recorded 33 saves for the Blast. Brantford incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Dunlops registered zero goals on six power play opportunities.
