Huge game by McAuley boosts Whitby over Stoney Creek, 6-3

The Whitby Dunlops' Jason McAuley had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 6-3 win over the Stoney Creek Generals.

McAuley scored 3:56 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Whitby. Connor Shingler assisted on the tally. McAuley dished an assist on Shane Terry's goal that made the score 1-0 Whitby at 1:27 into the first period. He then added assists on Peter MacKellar's goal at 18:15 into the second and on MacKellar's goal at 19:36 into the second.

Whitby also got points from TJ Kemp, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, MacKellar, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Terry, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kyle Ventura also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Mike Pawlak and Greg Leyden, who contributed one each.

Stoney Creek stifled Whitby's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Generals did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Stoney Creek puts an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. The Generals kept the Dunlops' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Guy made 43 saves on 46 shots.

Stoney Creek was helped by Mike Ruberto, who tallied one goal and two assists. Ruberto scored 17:06 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Stoney Creek. Ryan Healy picked up the assist. Stoney Creek additionally got points from Healy, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Stoney Creek also got a goal from Nikola Bibic as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Matthew Reynolds, who had three.

Whitby incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Daniel Svedin made 20 saves for the Generals on 25 shots. Stoney Creek incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
