Stoney Creek outlasts Norwood, 4-2

The game between the Stoney Creek Generals and the Norwood Vipers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Stoney Creek emerged with a 4-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jamie Visser secured the win for the Generals with a goal in the third period.

Stoney Creek got the win with help from a great game by Visser, who had two goals and one assist. Visser scored the first of his two goals at 6:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyle McQuade provided the assist. Visser's next tally made the score 3-2 Stoney Creek with 10:48 left in the third period. McQuade assisted on the tally.

Norwood's power play was ineffective against the Generals' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Stoney Creek excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 11 chances. The Generals did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting four shots on net to force zero saves. Stoney Creek's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Stoney Creek also got points from Jeremy Bloomfield, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Stoney Creek also got a goal from Greg O Neill as well. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Mike Ruberto and Tony Iaquinto, who contributed one each.

The Vipers stifled the Generals' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Norwood forced Stoney Creek goalie Daniel Svedin to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Vipers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 52 minutes in penalties during the game.

Norwood was helped by Brendan Curry, who registered one goal. Curry scored 7:31 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Norwood. Cody Clancy provided the assist. Mike Madgett also scored for Norwood. In addition, Norwood received assists from Mike Hanna and Kenny Bartley, who each chipped in one.

The Generals incurred 60 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For Stoney Creek, Mark Vida was ejected from the game.
