M1 Slippery Rock University uses shootout to best M1 Duquesne University, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Slippery Rock University Pride defeated the M1 Duquesne University Dukes in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. M1 Slippery Rock University's other shootout goal was scored by Joseph Bender.

The Pride saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. M1 Slippery Rock University made the score 3-1 on a power play goal by Jonathan Gratton at 10:29 in the third period. M1 Duquesne University evened things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Zack Richey at 16:41 in the third period.

The Pride could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Brandon Harris also scored for M1 Slippery Rock University. In addition, M1 Slippery Rock University received assists from Alex Shimoloens, Bender, Josh Mccuean, Josh Jones, JT Grahl, and Gregory Miller, who contributed one each.

The Dukes' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as M1 Duquesne University finished with 21 penalty minutes.

M1 Duquesne University also got a goal from Thomas Diffendal as well. More assists for M1 Duquesne University came via Zak Kindya, Julian Rizza, Michael Iannello, and Christian Wirginis, who each chipped in one.

M1 Slippery Rock University registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. The Dukes registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
