TORONTO pulls away in second, rolls over SOUTHWEST, 8-2

SOUTHWEST was within striking distance after one period, but TORONTO put the pedal down in the second en route to an 8-2 victory.

Daryl Watts had a great game for TORONTO, netting four goals. Watts got on the scoresheet 34 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 6:41 into the second, at 13:44 into the second, and at 1:39 into the third.

TORONTO's penalty kill excelled, as TORONTO gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

TORONTO forced SOUTHWEST's goaltenders to work without much rest, launching 31 shots and forcing 23 saves. Alex Rajsigl made 13 stops and Vanessa Despenic (PU) made 10. TORONTO stifled SOUTHWEST's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. TORONTO outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, TORONTO averages 4.0 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. TORONTO could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for TORONTO included Connor Galway, who had two and Tori Haywood and Cara Clarke, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for TORONTO were Jessie Eldridge, who had two and Haley Shugart, Taylor Baker, Cristine Chao, Emma Low-A-Chee, and Mikyla Grant Mentis, who each chipped in one.

SOUTHWEST could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lindsay Wray recorded 19 saves for TORONTO. TORONTO registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
