CAMBRIDGE rolls over ETOBICOKE, 5-2

CAMBRIDGE had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over ETOBICOKE.

CAMBRIDGE got the win behind a great game by Rachael Irvine, who had one goal and two assists. Irvine scored 5:29 into the second period to make the score 4-2 CAMBRIDGE. Rachel Holden provided the assist.

CAMBRIDGE's penalty kill excelled, as CAMBRIDGE gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

CAMBRIDGE stifled ETOBICOKE's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. CAMBRIDGE's offense rang up 33 shots on ETOBICOKE's net. CAMBRIDGE bested its season scoring average. This season, CAMBRIDGE averages 2.2 goals per contest. CAMBRIDGE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

CAMBRIDGE also got points from Holden, who also had one goal and two assists, Rebecca Haddaway (A), who also registered one goal and one assist, and Shannon Pearson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Alyssa Chiarello (A) also scored for CAMBRIDGE. In addition, CAMBRIDGE received assists from Natasha Costello, Shelby Wood, Morgan Rolph, and Brooklyn Davis, who contributed one each.

ETOBICOKE put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow CAMBRIDGE to score on any of its nine power plays. ETOBICOKE's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. ETOBICOKE is averaging 2.4 goals against for the season.

ETOBICOKE was helped by Elizabeth Gerace, who racked up one goal. Gerace scored 11:29 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Rachel Colle picked up the assist. ETOBICOKE also got a goal from Emily Landry (A) as well. Other players who recorded assists for ETOBICOKE were Willow Corson, Tegan Duncan, and Erin Locke (A), who each chipped in one.

Lauren Webber made 17 saves for CAMBRIDGE on 19 shots. Fabiana Petricca rejected 28 shots on goal for ETOBICOKE. ETOBICOKE incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
