STONEY CREEK penalty kill dominates in 2-0 defeat of BLUEWATER

STONEY CREEK, which found itself down a man often, weathered BLUEWATER's power play opportunities and emerged with a 2-0 victory.

STONEY CREEK was led by Rachael Smith, who grabbed one goal. Smith scored 5:19 into the second period to make the score 1-0 STONEY CREEK. Emily Calligan picked up the assist.

STONEY CREEK excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. STONEY CREEK kept BLUEWATER's goalie busy throughout the game, and Carley Molnar made 36 saves on 38 shots. STONEY CREEK could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

STONEY CREEK also got a goal from Jessica Brown as well. In addition, STONEY CREEK received assists from Claire Merrick and Kayla Vespa, who contributed one each.

BLUEWATER did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting eight shots on net to force eight saves.

Sarah McDonnell rejected eight shots on goal for STONEY CREEK. STONEY CREEK registered two goals on five power play opportunities. BLUEWATER incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
