STONEY CREEK tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but OTTAWA held on for a 2-1 victory. OTTAWA took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have STONEY CREEK storm back on a Rachael Smith goal 12:22 into the third period to pull to one goal down. STONEY CREEK was stymied by OTTAWA's netminder Elizabeth Spinozzi, who stopped 35 shots during the victory. Spinozzi certainly lowered her goals against average, which was 3.18 entering the contest. OTTAWA was led by Sophie Veronneau, who registered one goal and one assist. Veronneau scored 6:49 into the third period to make the score 2-0 OTTAWA. Caitlin Shanahan picked up the assist. OTTAWA excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. OTTAWA also got a goal from Helen Markovic (PU) as well. In addition, OTTAWA received assists from Cassidy Herman (A), who had one. STONEY CREEK forced OTTAWA goalie Spinozzi to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. More assists for STONEY CREEK came via Kristin ONeill (A) and Jessica Brown, who contributed one each. OTTAWA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. STONEY CREEK's Sarah McDonnell stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that she faced.
