NEPEAN wins tough contest against LEASIDE, 3-2

NEPEAN gutted out a close 3-2 win against LEASIDE.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Lindsay Eastwood(C)'s goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Alyssa Baker(A) was all over the ice for NEPEAN, as she tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Baker(A) scored the first of her two goals at 2:25 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Leanne Baker provided the assist. Baker(A)'s next tally made the score 2-1 NEPEAN with 8:48 left in the first period. Josiane Pozzebon(A) picked up the assist.

NEPEAN's penalty kill excelled, as NEPEAN gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Other players who recorded assists for NEPEAN were Cynthia St Cyr, who had one and Devon Greenough, who had two.

LEASIDE found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

LEASIDE was helped by Cynthia Cavanagh, who registered one goal. Cavanagh scored 20 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 LEASIDE. Rachel Dowdall (A) provided the assist. Siobhan Birch also scored for LEASIDE. In addition, LEASIDE received assists from Olivia Bullen (A), who had one.

NEPEAN's Laurysa Lewis stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that she faced. NEPEAN incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Hailey Farrelly rejected 16 shots on goal for LEASIDE.
