MISSISSAUGA penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of OAKVILLE

MISSISSAUGA's penalty kill was superb, as MISSISSAUGA survived multiple penalties to beat OAKVILLE, 5-2.

MISSISSAUGA was sparked by Caitlyn Sadowy (A), who registered one goal and one assist. Sadowy (A) scored 11:08 into the second period to make the score 3-1 MISSISSAUGA. Kyra Colbert picked up the assist.

MISSISSAUGA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six OAKVILLE power plays. MISSISSAUGA surpassed its usual scoring output this season. MISSISSAUGA has scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign. MISSISSAUGA could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

MISSISSAUGA additionally got points from Stephanie Sucharda (A), who also had one goal and one assist. Nadine Edney (A) also scored for MISSISSAUGA. In addition, MISSISSAUGA received assists from Kelly Mariani (C), who had two and Gabby Smyth, Lindsay Agnew, and Natalie Marcuzzi, who each chipped in one.

MISSISSAUGA was unable to stop OAKVILLE from sending pucks towards the net, and OAKVILLE eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. OAKVILLE's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to MISSISSAUGA's power play unit. OAKVILLE's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. OAKVILLE averages 1.5 goal allowed per game.

OAKVILLE was helped by Loren Gabel, who finished with one goal. Gabel scored 11:25 into the first period to make the score 2-1 MISSISSAUGA. Lauren Patterson provided the assist. OAKVILLE also got a goal from Emma Maltais as well. More assists for OAKVILLE came via Olivia Atkinson, who had one.

Elijah Milne-Price rejected 31 shots on goal for MISSISSAUGA. Daniela Paniccia recorded 13 saves for OAKVILLE. OAKVILLE incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
