AURORA squeaks by SOUTHWEST, 3-2Forest Glade Arena Sat, Dec 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between AURORA and SOUTHWEST was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end AURORA emerged with a 3-2 win. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jaden Head secured the win for AURORA with a goal in the third period. AURORA was paced by Head, who finished with one goal and one assist. Head scored 16:51 into the third period to make the score 3-2 AURORA. Brittany Kucera (C) picked up the assist. SOUTHWEST's defense shut down AURORA's forwards for much of the game, and AURORA got off only 14 shots during the contest. AURORA was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 28 penalty minutes. AURORA also got points from Tara Morning (A), who also registered one goal and one assist. AURORA also got a goal from Alex MacKinnon (A) as well. More assists for AURORA came via Madison Lee, who had one. SOUTHWEST stifled AURORA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. SOUTHWEST struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for four opposing power plays. SOUTHWEST was helped by Jenna Henry, who had one goal. Henry scored 11:38 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Monica Sokolowski provided the assist. Muna Fadel also scored for SOUTHWEST. In addition, SOUTHWEST received assists from Ashley Maitre, Savannah Bouzide, and Aubrey Lefler (PU), who each chipped in one. Melissa Black rejected 24 shots on goal for AURORA. SOUTHWEST's Alex Rajsigl stopped 11 shots out of the 14 that she faced. SOUTHWEST registered two goals on nine power play opportunities.
