OAKVILLE survives AURORA comeback, wins 3-1

AURORA tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but OAKVILLE held on for a 3-1 victory.

OAKVILLE took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have AURORA storm back on a Claudia Black (A) goal 19:21 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

OAKVILLE was sparked by Olivia Atkinson, who registered one goal. Atkinson scored 4:45 into the third period to make the score 2-0 OAKVILLE. Madison Field provided the assist.

AURORA was unable to stop OAKVILLE from sending pucks towards the net, and OAKVILLE eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. OAKVILLE cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances.

Others who scored for OAKVILLE included Jazz Kennedy and Loren Gabel, who each put in one. More assists for OAKVILLE came via Lauren Patterson, Julia Edgar, Christina Putigna, Amy Curlew, and Mackenzie Stamper, who each chipped in one.

In addition, AURORA received assists from Ashley Rothon and Megan Kingston, who contributed one each.

OAKVILLE's Nikki Cece stopped 15 shots out of the 16 that she faced. OAKVILLE ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For OAKVILLE, Emma Maltais was ejected from the game. Taylor Lemmon rejected 29 shots on goal for AURORA. AURORA totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. AURORA ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tara Morning (A) was ejected from the game.
