OAKVILLE rips WATERLOO, 4-1

OAKVILLE had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over WATERLOO.

OAKVILLE got the win thanks to a great game by Loren Gabel, who had two goals and one assist. Gabel scored the first of her two goals at five seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 OAKVILLE. Gabel's next tally made the score 3-1 OAKVILLE with 12:31 left in the second period. Emma Maltais assisted on the tally.

WATERLOO's power play was ineffective against OAKVILLE's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

OAKVILLE excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. WATERLOO was unable to stop OAKVILLE from sending pucks towards the net, and OAKVILLE eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

OAKVILLE additionally got points from Madison Field, who also registered one goal and one assist. OAKVILLE also got a goal from Christina Putigna as well. Other players who recorded assists for OAKVILLE were Jaime Bourbonnais, who had two.

WATERLOO could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

WATERLOO was led by Carly AuCoin, who scored the team's only goal. AuCoin scored 5:39 into the first period to make the score 2-1 OAKVILLE. Kendra Puttick (C) picked up the assist.

OAKVILLE's starting goalie, Daniela Paniccia, made three saves and finished with the win before she was taken out in favor of Nikki Cece, who stopped 12 shots. OAKVILLE incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. WATERLOO's Jessica Fariello stopped 35 shots out of the 39 that she faced.
