WHITBY, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by BURLINGTON and clinched a 3-1 victory. WHITBY led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when WHITBY's Cassidy Vinkle(A) scored at 11:51 in the second period to put WHITBY up 4-1. WHITBY was paced on offense by Rhyen McGill(C) and Katelyn Rae, who combined for three points. McGill(C) racked up two goals and one assist and Rae also added one goal. WHITBY excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. WHITBY forced BURLINGTON goalie Kyra OBrien to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. WHITBY additionally got points from Vinkle(A), who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, WHITBY received assists from Avery Mitchell, Caitlyn Quartarone, and Brooke McQuigge, who contributed one each. BURLINGTON's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three WHITBY power plays. BURLINGTON was led by Maggie Spratt-Mallick, who scored the team's only goal. Spratt-Mallick scored 12:35 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Andrea Benac picked up the assist. Emma Schram rejected 15 shots on goal for WHITBY. WHITBY incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kyra OBrien made 28 saves for BURLINGTON on 31 shots. BURLINGTON incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
