WHITBY shrugs off penalties, upends DURHAM WEST, 2-1Paramount Ice Sat, Nov 08, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
DURHAM WEST failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and WHITBY shook off a number of penalties to win, 2-1. WHITBY was sparked by Katelyn Rae, who registered one goal. Rae scored 4:57 into the third period to make the score 2-1 WHITBY. WHITBY excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. WHITBY could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. WHITBY also got a goal from Cassidy Vinkle(A) as well. Other players who recorded assists for WHITBY were Hailey Wilson and Rhyen McGill(C), who contributed one each. DURHAM WEST's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five WHITBY power plays. DURHAM WEST was led by Emily Jukosky, who scored the team's only goal. Jukosky scored 4:06 into the second period to make the score 1-0 DURHAM WEST. Kaitlyn McManus (A) picked up the assist. Rachel McQuigge recorded 20 saves for WHITBY. DURHAM WEST's Tera Hofmann stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that she faced. DURHAM WEST incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
