OTTAWA uses early goal to top BARRIE, 3-1

Katherine Chadwick scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and OTTAWA held off the challenges of BARRIE in a tough 3-1 win.

Chadwick provided OTTAWA with the game-winning tally when she scored 10:06 into the first period. Sophie Veronneau picked up the assist.

OTTAWA was led by Anonda Hoppner, who tallied one goal. Hoppner scored 40 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 OTTAWA.

OTTAWA forced BARRIE goalie Briar Hughes to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Tasza Tarnowski also scored for OTTAWA. Other players who recorded assists for OTTAWA were Sophie Rodenburg and Cassidy Herman, who each chipped in one.

BARRIE's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as BARRIE finished with 14 penalty minutes.

BARRIE was led by Kara Washer (C), who scored the team's only goal. Washer (C) scored 8:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 OTTAWA.

OTTAWA's Elizabeth Spinozzi stopped 14 shots out of the 15 that she faced. OTTAWA incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Hughes rejected 35 shots on goal for BARRIE. BARRIE registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
