KINGSTON hangs on, beats BLUEWATER 2-0

KINGSTON beat BLUEWATER, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Brianna Gaffney (A) provided KINGSTON with the game-winning tally when she scored 7:00 into the first period. Natalie Graham (A) picked up the assist.

Jensen Murphy frustrated BLUEWATER's offense all game, and stopped 36 shots en route to a shutout. The solid play of Murphy will be reflected in her goals against average, which pre-game was 1.92.

KINGSTON was sparked by Gaffney (A), who finished with one goal.

KINGSTON managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. KINGSTON ended up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. KINGSTON's defense was surprisingly good. KINGSTON allows 2.8 goals per game. KINGSTON forced BLUEWATER goalie Carley Molnar to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Danielle Wark also scored for KINGSTON. In addition, KINGSTON received assists from Hayley Williams, who had one.
