OAKVILLE survives BLUEWATER comeback, wins 3-2

BLUEWATER tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but OAKVILLE held on for a 3-2 victory.

OAKVILLE took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have BLUEWATER storm back on a Davis Smith goal 4:54 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

OAKVILLE pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes.

OAKVILLE forced BLUEWATER goalie Carley Molnar to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. OAKVILLE was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

OAKVILLE was led by Emma Maltais, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Maltais scored 11:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 OAKVILLE. Alessia Marchese picked up the assist. Others who scored for OAKVILLE included Meaghan Hector and Amy Curlew, who each put in one. More assists for OAKVILLE came via Julia Edgar, Jaime Bourbonnais, and Cassidy MacPherson, who each chipped in one.

BLUEWATER was helped by Bradey Couwenberg (C), who finished with one goal. Couwenberg (C) scored 10:50 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Olivia Lynch provided the assist. BLUEWATER additionally got points from Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for BLUEWATER were Meredith Goldhawk, who had one.

Nikki Cece rejected 22 shots on goal for OAKVILLE. OAKVILLE ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Madison Field was ejected from the game. BLUEWATER's Molnar stopped 44 shots out of the 47 that she faced. BLUEWATER incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
