MISSISSAUGA beats SOUTHWEST 7-0 as Mariani (C) gets hat trick

Kelly Mariani (C) lifted MISSISSAUGA to a 7-0 victory with a hat trick against SOUTHWEST.

Mariani (C)'s first goal came 11:18 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:56 into the second and at 19:47 into the third.

MISSISSAUGA managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. MISSISSAUGA ended up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. MISSISSAUGA forced SOUTHWEST goalie Hanna Slater to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. MISSISSAUGA found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. MISSISSAUGA averages 4.0 goals per game.

MISSISSAUGA also got points from Caitlyn Sadowy (A), who also had one goal and two assists and Lindsay Agnew, who also racked up two goals and four assists to lead the team in points. MISSISSAUGA also got a goal from Shana Walker as well. Other players who recorded assists for MISSISSAUGA were Stephanie Sucharda (A), Dana Bryce, Gabby Smyth, Jacky Miller, and Natalie Marcuzzi, who each chipped in one.

SOUTHWEST found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 10 shots against MISSISSAUGA's defense.

Lin Han made 10 saves for MISSISSAUGA on 10 shots. MISSISSAUGA registered two goals on five power play opportunities. SOUTHWEST's Slater stopped 41 shots out of the 48 that she faced. SOUTHWEST ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Amy Maitre was ejected from the game.
