M3-Old Dominion University survives M3-American University comeback, wins 3-1

M3-Old Dominion University came close to giving away a three-goal lead to M3-American University, but did just enough to escape with a 3-1 victory.

M3-Old Dominion University led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when M3-Old Dominion University's Eric Severo scored at 1:21 in the second period to put M3-Old Dominion University up 3-0.

M3-Old Dominion University got the win on the strength of a great game by Ryan Witherow, who had two goals and one assist. Witherow scored the first of his two goals at 14 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 M3-Old Dominion University. Tyler Smoyer provided the assist. Witherow's next tally made the score 2-0 M3-Old Dominion University with 23 seconds left in the first period. M3-Old Dominion University had taken the advantage when M3-American University's austin short got sent off for hooking. Smoyer assisted on the tally.

M3-Old Dominion University's penalty kill excelled, as M3-Old Dominion University gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

M3-Old Dominion University stifled M3-American University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. M3-Old Dominion University forced M3-American University goalie Alex Chabala to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

In addition, M3-Old Dominion University received assists from David Bohnwagner, Dennis Nicholson, and Cameron Hamilton, who contributed one each.

M3-American University was led by Niall Harding, who scored the team's only goal. Harding scored 9:25 into the second period to make the score 3-1 M3-Old Dominion University. Andrew Wainwright picked up the assist.

Kevin Whitbeck recorded 24 saves for M3-Old Dominion University. M3-Old Dominion University incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. M3-American University's Chabala stopped 44 shots out of the 47 that he faced. M3-American University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
