M1 Western Michigan University falls to M1 Kent State University after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, the M1 Kent State University Golden Flashes battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over the M1 Western Michigan University Stallions.

M1 Kent State University let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. The Golden Flashes took a 1-0 advantage on a power play goal by Troy Bubanic at 3:39 in the first period. M1 Kent State University went down 4-1 after M1 Western Michigan University's Mitch Rogowski put the puck home at 18:54 in the second period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Robin Danielsson at 12:11 in the third, the Golden Flashes got the game-winner from Andrew Radosevic at 16:35 in the third period.

M1 Kent State University got the win with help from a great game by Radosevic, who had two goals and one assist. Radosevic scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 45 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-2 M1 Western Michigan University. Jonathon Buttitta provided the assist. Radosevic's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 M1 Kent State University with 3:25 left in the third period. A slashing penalty on Jesse Cameron had put the Golden Flashes on the power play. Buttitta assisted on the tally.

M1 Kent State University stifled the Stallions' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Golden Flashes' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

M1 Kent State University additionally got points from Bubanic, who also had one goal and one assist. Kyle Schaefer also scored for M1 Kent State University. More assists for M1 Kent State University came via Alex Compean, Chance Taylor, Trevor Handlovitch, and Jared Fielden, who contributed one each.

M1 Western Michigan University struggled on the penalty kill, allowing M1 Kent State University to score three power play goals on five chances. With 33 shots on target during the contest, the Stallions exceeded the 0.2 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Western Michigan University was led by Zach Mudge, who finished with two goals. Mudge scored the first of his two goals at 3:55 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nicholas Elliott picked up the assist. Mudge's next tally made the score 3-1 M1 Western Michigan University with 10:45 left in the second period. Niko Michos provided the assist. M1 Western Michigan University also got a goal from Jacob Taiariol as well. In addition, M1 Western Michigan University received assists from Declan Hartnett, Ryan Adams, and Andrew Holder, who each chipped in one.

Sky Buller made 17 saves before being replaced by Zachary Nowak, who took the win and made 12 saves. The Golden Flashes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brandon Haase rejected 20 shots on goal for the Stallions. M1 Western Michigan University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
