M1 Arizona / University of vanquishes M2 Northern Arizona University in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Arizona / University of Wildcats defeated M2 Northern Arizona University in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. M2 Northern Arizona University got a shootout goal from Cameron Mcdonald. In addition to the clincher, M1 Arizona / University of got a shootout goal from Brett Fagerheim.

The Wildcats overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. M1 Arizona / University of trailed 3-2 after a goal by M2 Northern Arizona University's Kirby Carlson at 1:41 in the third period. The Wildcats tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Alex Nespor at 13:12 in the third period.

M2 Northern Arizona University's power play was ineffective against M1 Arizona / University of's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Wildcats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 56 shots on goal during the game, better than the 3.2 shots per game they average. M1 Arizona / University of could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.
