Gara's hat trick boosts M1 Rhode Island / University of over M1 Drexel University, 4-1

Brian Gara netted a hat trick to lead the M1 Rhode Island / University of Rams over the M1 Drexel University Dragons, 4-1.

Gara got on the scoresheet 5:00 into the third period. He then added goals at 10:03 into the third and at 19:58 into the third.

M1 Rhode Island / University of excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Rams put 39 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.4 they average per game.

Robbie Buehrer also scored for M1 Rhode Island / University of. In addition, M1 Rhode Island / University of received assists from Ray Boudiette, John Del Padre, and Billy DAmore, who contributed one each.

M1 Drexel University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Rhode Island / University of to score on any of its five power plays. The Dragons could not produce up to their normal offensive output. M1 Drexel University puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. With 22 shots on target during the contest, the Dragons exceeded the 1.2 shot they average per game this year.

M1 Drexel University was led by Jim Mikalic, who scored the team's only goal. Mikalic scored 3:28 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Williams picked up the assist.

Andrew Sherman made 21 saves for the Rams on 22 shots. M1 Rhode Island / University of incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Dragons' Zachary Kantner stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. M1 Drexel University incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
