M1 Villanova University holds on for 6-5 win against M1 Lehigh University

The M1 Lehigh University Mountain Hawks tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the M1 Villanova University Wildcats held on for a 6-5 victory.

A goal by Nicholas Schultz put M1 Villanova University up 6-4 in the third period, but M1 Lehigh University pulled to within one on Stephen Flego's tally 15:47 into the third period.

The Wildcats' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. M1 Villanova University is averaging 2.5 goals against for the season. The Wildcats put 43 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.4 they average per game.

M1 Villanova University was led by James Kirchgraber, who tallied two goals. Kirchgraber scored the first of his two goals at 18:04 into the second period to make the score 4-3 M1 Villanova University. Myles Mitchell picked up the assist. Kirchgraber's next tally made the score 5-4 M1 Villanova University with 8:32 left in the third period. Doug Geertz provided the assist. M1 Villanova University also got points from Jeff Christie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. M1 Lehigh University struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

The Mountain Hawks were helped by Christopher Ramondelli, who finished with one goal and three assists. Ramondelli scored 2:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 M1 Lehigh University. Joseph Ramondelli assisted on the tally. M1 Lehigh University additionally got points from Adam Goldstein, who also registered one goal and one assist and Kevin McGee, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. M1 Lehigh University also got a goal from Matthew Blakley as well. More assists for M1 Lehigh University came via Patrick Walgren and Scott Mogerley, who each chipped in one.

Harper recorded 24 saves for the Wildcats. M1 Villanova University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Patrick Walgren made 37 saves for M1 Lehigh University on 43 shots. The Mountain Hawks registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
