M1 Illinois / University of survives M1 Rhode Island / University of comeback, wins 4-2

The M1 Rhode Island / University of Rams tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the M1 Illinois / University of Fighting Illini held on for a 4-2 victory.

M1 Illinois / University of took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have M1 Rhode Island / University of storm back on a Brian Gara goal 2:17 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The 27 shots that the Fighting Illini put on net surpassed M1 Illinois / University of's average of 2.3 shots per game this season.

The Fighting Illini were helped by John Olen, who grabbed one goal. Olen scored 9:02 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M1 Illinois / University of. Eric Cruickshank picked up the assist. Others who scored for M1 Illinois / University of included Josh Belmont, Jonathan Langan, and Aaron Dusek, who each put in one.
