The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. M1 Lindenwood University got a shootout goal from Michael Lozano. M1 Illinois / University of's other shootout goal was scored by Eric Cruickshank.The Fighting Illini overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. M1 Illinois / University of was down 2-0 after a goal by the Lions' Rock Einersen at 19:59 in the first period. The Fighting Illini tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Jack Soneson at 18:56 in the third period. By firing 28 shots on goal, M1 Illinois / University of exceeded the 1.5 shot it averages per game this year. The Fighting Illini were led by Cruickshank, who racked up one goal and one assist.
