The M1 Oklahoma / University of Sooners tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the M1 Illinois / University of Fighting Illini would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

A goal by Eric Cruickshank put M1 Illinois / University of up 4-1 in the third period, but M1 Oklahoma / University of pulled to within two on Cory Ramsey's tally 14:49 into the third period.

Cruickshank had a great game for the Fighting Illini, netting two goals.

M1 Illinois / University of excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Fighting Illini put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.5 they average per game.
