M1 Stony Brook University outlasts M1 Liberty University, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the M1 Stony Brook University Seawolves escaped with a 3-2 victory over the M1 Liberty University Flames.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Tyler Underhill secured the win for M1 Stony Brook University with a goal in the third period.

The Seawolves were led by Underhill, who tallied one goal. Underhill scored 19:58 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M1 Stony Brook University. Chris Joseph picked up the assist.

M1 Stony Brook University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Liberty University to score on any of its three power plays. The Seawolves did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. M1 Stony Brook University puts an average of 5.1 pucks into the net per game. With 41 shots on target during the contest, the Seawolves exceeded the 4.7 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Stony Brook University also had goals scored by Nick Barbera and Vincent Lopes, who each put in one. More assists for M1 Stony Brook University came via Ryan Cotcamp, Kevin Barry, and Joseph Bochichio, who each chipped in one.

The Flames excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. M1 Liberty University's offense operated below its season average. The Flames average 5.0 goals per game. M1 Liberty University put 45 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.6 it averages per game.

The Flames were helped by Steven Bellew, who finished with one goal. Bellew scored 13:06 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tyson Street provided the assist. Robert Ward also scored for M1 Liberty University. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Liberty University were Chase Harris and Cam Bakker, who contributed one each.

Derek Willms rejected 43 shots on goal for M1 Stony Brook University. The Seawolves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Joshua Halpenny recorded 38 saves for M1 Liberty University. The Flames incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
