Balavich's hat trick boosts M1 Adrian College over M1 Eastern Michigan University, 12-1

Nicholas Balavich netted a hat trick to lead the M1 Adrian College Bulldogs over the M1 Eastern Michigan University Eagles, 12-1.

Balavich's first goal came 14:03 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:53 into the second and at 17:15 into the third.

M1 Adrian College forced Eagles' netminders to work between the pipes, ripping 85 shots and forcing 73 saves. Joe Moza made 54 stops and Ryan Baron made 19. The Bulldogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. M1 Adrian College's goal total was higher than its season average. The Bulldogs have scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. M1 Adrian College's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

M1 Adrian College also got points from Nicholas Goettel, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Matt Zaremba, who also had one goal and two assists, Matthew Oneill, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Chris Derochie, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brad Kobryn, who also tallied three goals and one assist to lead the team in points. M1 Adrian College also got a goal from Erik Alden as well. In addition, M1 Adrian College received assists from Andre Rakas, Nikolas Sakellaropoulos, Zach Armstrong, Ted Anstett, Josh Hosking, Sam Johnston, and Justin Fisher, who each chipped in one and Erik Wentzel and Alex Dobrzeniecki, who contributed two each.

M1 Eastern Michigan University did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Eagles average 3.7 goals per game. M1 Eastern Michigan University put 24 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.0 it averages per game. The Eagles struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 30 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

M1 Eastern Michigan University was led by Ryan Faucheux, who scored the team's only goal. Faucheux scored 17:43 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M1 Adrian College.

Frank Crupi made 23 saves for the Bulldogs on 24 shots. M1 Adrian College incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
