M1 Adrian College uses big second period to beat M1 Western Michigan University, 7-3

The M1 Adrian College Bulldogs used a three-goal second period to put away the M1 Western Michigan University Stallions, 7-3.

Matt Zaremba had two goals to lead M1 Adrian College to victory. Zaremba scored at 8:51 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 1:25 into the second to make the score 4-2 M1 Adrian College.

The Bulldogs forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and three majors for 47 minutes in penalty time. M1 Adrian College surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bulldogs' offense rang up 49 shots on M1 Western Michigan University's net. M1 Adrian College surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Bulldogs average 4.7 goals per contest. M1 Adrian College had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 13 chances. The Bulldogs' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

M1 Adrian College also had goals scored by Andre Rakas, Ted Anstett, Matthew Oneill, Darren Tarasoff, and Nicholas Balavich, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Adrian College received assists from Nicholas Goettel, who had one, Brad Kobryn, who had three, and Chris Derochie, Sam Johnston, and Archie Mckinnon, who contributed two each.

The Stallions' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 14 minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 15.0 minutes per game M1 Western Michigan University had been spending in the box. With 31 shots on target during the contest, the Stallions exceeded the 1.9 shot they average per game this year.

M1 Western Michigan University was led by Zach Mudge, who tallied one goal and one assist. Mudge scored on the power play 8:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Western Michigan University. The Stallions had gotten the advantage when M1 Adrian College's Johnston was sent off for tripping. Jared Vincek picked up the assist. Others who scored for M1 Western Michigan University included Nick Murphy and Brandon Grillo, who each put in one. More assists for M1 Western Michigan University came via Colin Tittle and Jesse Cameron, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs' Austyn Roudebush stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. For M1 Adrian College, Adam Bristol and Anstett were ejected from the contest. Anthony Benvenuti made 42 saves for M1 Western Michigan University on 49 shots. The Stallions registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
