Early goals doom M1 Mercyhurst University, falls to M1 Adrian College, 8-2

The M1 Mercyhurst University Lakers fell behind early, and the M1 Adrian College Bulldogs kept piling on the points on the way to an 8-2 victory.

M1 Adrian College got the win behind a great game by Robert Bodette, who had one goal and two assists. Bodette scored short handed 5:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M1 Adrian College. The Bulldogs played down a man on Ted Anstett's interference. Alex Dobrzeniecki provided the assist.

M1 Adrian College's penalty kill excelled, as the Bulldogs gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

M1 Adrian College was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 25.0 minutes per game the Bulldogs had been spending in the box. M1 Adrian College forced M1 Mercyhurst University's goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 48 shots and forcing 40 saves. Adam Goss made 13 stops and Nick George made 27. The Bulldogs surpassed their usual scoring output this season. M1 Adrian College has scored at the pace of 5.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

M1 Adrian College also got points from Dobrzeniecki, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Nicholas Balavich, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Justin Fisher, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brad Kobryn, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for M1 Adrian College included Andre Rakas and Matt Zaremba, who each put in one. In addition, M1 Adrian College received assists from Erik Wentzel, Nikolas Sakellaropoulos, Adam Bristol, Matthew Oneill, Darren Tarasoff, and Chris Derochie, who contributed one each.

The Lakers put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.4 they average per game. M1 Mercyhurst University struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 36 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

The Lakers were led by Joseph Tadiello, who racked up one goal and one assist. Tadiello scored on the power play 2:19 into the second period to make the score 6-1 M1 Adrian College. M1 Mercyhurst University had gained a power play chance when Archie Mckinnon was whistled for slashing. Joseph Zinner assisted on the tally. Patrick Schafer also scored for M1 Mercyhurst University. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Mercyhurst University were Brian Hamm, who had one.

Austyn Roudebush rejected 29 shots on goal for the Bulldogs.
