M1 Niagara University holds on for 5-4 win against M1 Syracuse UniversityTennity Ice Fri, Jan 23, 2015 The M1 Syracuse University Orange tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the M1 Niagara University Purple Eagles held on for a 5-4 victory. M1 Niagara University made the score 5-2 on a goal by Patrick gregory at 19:01 in the second period, and M1 Syracuse University got as close as 5-4 when Robert VanRaamsdonk scored 15:57 into the third period. The Purple Eagles' offense was clicking better than usual and put 21 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.2 shots per game they average. M1 Niagara University was helped by Andrew Mitch, who registered two goals. Mitch scored the first of his two goals at 8:26 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M1 Niagara University. Mitch's next tally made the score 3-1 M1 Niagara University with 1:34 left in the first period. Josh Pietrantonio assisted on the tally. Dalton Bew also scored for M1 Niagara University. Austin Lefkowicz made seven saves before being replaced by Jaime Ketchabaw, who took the loss and made nine saves. The Orange incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
