M1 Oakland University penalty kill dominates in 6-2 defeat of M1 Mercyhurst University

The M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the M1 Mercyhurst University Lakers' power play opportunities and emerged with a 6-2 victory.

M1 Oakland University was led by Doug Andrews, who tallied one goal and one assist. Andrews scored 1:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Oakland University. James Odom assisted on the tally.

The Golden Grizzlies got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. With 31 shots on target during the contest, M1 Oakland University exceeded the 2.0 shots it averages per game this year.

M1 Oakland University also had goals scored by Ryan Rotondi, who had two and Mike Baker, Ian Teal, and Kyle Nelson, who scored one goal each. More assists for M1 Oakland University came via Ioan Florea, who had three, Andrew Parus and Tom Kilgore, who each chipped in one, and Nick Rogers and Matt Stirling, who contributed two each.

M1 Mercyhurst University forced the Golden Grizzlies goalie Corey Hrischuk to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Anthony Munoz made nine saves before being replaced by Hrischuk, who took the win and made 22 saves. M1 Oakland University incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Lakers took out Adam Goss after he had made 22 saves and installed Bryan Danczak in goal, where he finished with three saves and the loss. M1 Mercyhurst University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
