Jacobs' goals lift M1 Oakland University to 6-3 victory over M1 Michigan-Dearborn / Univ of

Behind a great game by Ian Jacobs, who had two goals, the M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies defeated the M1 Michigan-Dearborn / Univ of Wolverines, 6-3.

Jacobs scored at 2:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M1 Oakland University and again while 16:01 into the second to make the score 4-1 M1 Oakland University.

M1 Oakland University's penalty kill excelled, as the Golden Grizzlies gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

M1 Oakland University's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 14 minors and three majors for 43 minutes in penalty time. The Golden Grizzlies had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game. M1 Oakland University got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

M1 Oakland University also had goals scored by William Balent, James Odom, Kyle Nelson, and Doug Andrews, who scored one goal each. More assists for M1 Oakland University came via Tom Kilgore, who had two and Ryan Rotondi, Will Shier, Frank Saputo, Donovan Bewick, Nick Rogers, and Corson Johnstone, who contributed one each.

The Wolverines were helped by James Marchese, who registered two goals. Marchese scored the first of his two goals at 14:50 into the first period to make the score 3-1 M1 Oakland University. Ryan Kelly picked up the assist. Marchese's next tally made the score 6-3 M1 Oakland University with 2:36 left in the third period. M1 Michigan-Dearborn / Univ of had gained a power play chance when Jacobs was whistled for holding. Jeremy Klotz provided the assist. The Wolverines' starting goalie, David Bryant, made 12 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Nate Ferris, who stopped eight shots. M1 Michigan-Dearborn / Univ of ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lucas Hart was ejected from the game.
