M1 Oakland University holds on for 5-4 win against M1 Western Michigan UniversityONYX 1 Fri, Dec 05, 2014 The M1 Western Michigan University Stallions tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies held on for a 5-4 victory. A goal by Ian Jacobs put M1 Oakland University up 5-3 in the third period, but M1 Western Michigan University pulled to within one on Jesse Cameron's tally 17:59 into the third period. The Golden Grizzlies got the win thanks to a great game by Andrew Parus, who had two goals and one assist. Parus scored the first of his two goals at 5:34 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Tom Kilgore provided the assist. Parus' next tally made the score 4-3 M1 Oakland University with 19:56 left in the third period. Michael Mackinnon picked up the assist. M1 Oakland University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stallions to score on any of their seven power plays. The Golden Grizzlies forced M1 Western Michigan University goalie Anthony Benvenuti to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. M1 Oakland University also got points from Jacobs, who also had one goal and one assist. M1 Oakland University also had goals scored by William Balent and Matt Stirling, who each put in one.
