M1 Lindenwood University hangs on, beats M1 Illinois / University of 2-1

The M1 Lindenwood University Lions took the lead against the M1 Illinois / University of Fighting Illini in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-1 victory.

A goal 5:19 into the first period by Brett Bauza proved to be the game winner, and powered M1 Lindenwood University to the victory. Stephen Bopp picked up the assist.

The Lions were led by goalie Michael Hails, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Hails managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.89 prior to the game.

M1 Lindenwood University was paced by Brandon Rumble, who grabbed one goal. Rumble scored on the power play 9:46 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M1 Lindenwood University. The Lions had taken the advantage when M1 Illinois / University of's Eric Cruickshank got sent off for hooking. Lukas Daniels provided the assist.

M1 Lindenwood University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Lions' offense rang up 33 shots on the Fighting Illini's net. M1 Lindenwood University's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.
