M1 Lindenwood University uses shootout to best M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Lindenwood University Lions defeated the M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois Eagles in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. M1 Lindenwood University's other shootout goal was scored by Kevin Walters.

The Lions overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. M1 Lindenwood University trailed 3-2 after a goal by M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois' Tim Prinz at 2:06 in the third period. The Lions tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Brandon Rumble at 8:02 in the third period.

Rumble had a great game for M1 Lindenwood University, netting two goals.

The Lions' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Tobias Nasgarde also scored for M1 Lindenwood University. More assists for M1 Lindenwood University came via Lukas Daniels, who had two and Walters, Rock Einersen, Jeremy Edwards, and Daniel Rosse, who each chipped in one.

The Eagles kept M1 Lindenwood University's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Hails made 40 saves on 43 shots. M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Eagles give up 1.8 goal per game. M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 16 penalty minutes.

The Eagles were helped by Josh Hart, who had one goal. Hart scored 5:29 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Connor McGovern assisted on the tally. M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois also got a goal from Gavin Burbach as well. In addition, M1 Robert Morris Univ Illinois received assists from Nathan Chasteen and Derek Diaz, who contributed one each.
