M1 Ohio University beats M1 Iowa State University 3-1 after comeback scare

The M1 Iowa State University Cyclones tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the M1 Ohio University Bobcats would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

M1 Ohio University made the score 3-0 on a goal by Tom Whetsel at 14:44 in the third period, and M1 Iowa State University got as close as 3-1 when Nate Percy scored 16:08 into the third period.

The Bobcats were led by Michael Harris, who grabbed one goal. Harris scored on the power play 13:44 into the third period to make the score 2-0 M1 Ohio University. A slashing penalty on Preston Blanek had put M1 Ohio University on the power play. Tyler Benson assisted on the tally.

The 24 shots that the Bobcats put on net surpassed M1 Ohio University's average of 2.8 shots per game this season.

M1 Ohio University also got a goal from Nathan De La Torre as well. In addition, M1 Ohio University received assists from Joey Breslin, who had two and Mike Kretz, Logan Pfeffer, and Matthew Hartman, who each chipped in one.

The Cyclones' offense was clicking better than usual and put 15 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.3 shots per game they average.

More assists for M1 Iowa State University came via Zack Johnson and Chase Rey, who contributed one each.

Ryan Heltion made 14 saves for the Bobcats on 15 shots. M1 Ohio University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. M1 Iowa State University's Matt Cooper stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Cyclones incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
