M2 Lewis University shrugs off penalties, upends M3-Ball State University, 9-6

M2 Lewis University's penalty kill was superb, as M2 Lewis University survived multiple penalties to beat M3-Ball State University, 9-6.

M2 Lewis University surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, M2 Lewis University averages 5.7 goals per contest. M2 Lewis University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game. With 55 shots on target during the contest, M2 Lewis University exceeded the 0.7 shots it averages per game this year.

M2 Lewis University was led by Jason Pischke, who registered one goal and two assists. Pischke scored 8:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M2 Lewis University. Nicholas Johnsen assisted on the tally. M3-Ball State University was led by Kyle Terhune, who tallied two goals and three assists. Terhune scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:31 into the third period to make the score 9-5 M2 Lewis University. M3-Ball State University had taken the advantage when M2 Lewis University's Hojek got sent off for elbowing. Brock Frazer picked up the assist. Terhune's next tally on the power play made the score 9-6 M2 Lewis University with 8:26 left in the third period. M3-Ball State University found itself down a man on Aidan Wilkinson's roughing. Will Hadden assisted on the tally. M3-Ball State University also got points from Frazer, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Others who scored for M3-Ball State University included Josh Wilkinson and Jacob Smulevitch, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for M3-Ball State University were Eamon Riley, Reese Miller, and Jeremy Gentner, who each chipped in one.

Zachary Prkut took the win and made 20 saves before being replaced by Austin Julvezan who made seven saves. M3-Ball State University's starting goalie, Patrick Lawson, made 32 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Macklan Hayes, who stopped 14 shots. M3-Ball State University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
