Halpenny stymies M1 Minot State University, M1 Liberty University wins 3-1

Joshua Halpenny had a standout game with 34 saves, and the M1 Liberty University Flames beat the M1 Minot State University Beavers 3-1.

M1 Liberty University was paced by Ryley Egan, who registered one goal and one assist. Egan scored 12:38 into the third period to make the score 2-1 M1 Liberty University. Lindsay LeBlanc picked up the assist.

The Flames' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three M1 Minot State University power plays. M1 Liberty University's offense rang up 36 shots on M1 Minot State University's net.

M1 Liberty University also had goals scored by Christian Garland and Robert Ward, who each put in one. More assists for M1 Liberty University came via Grant Garvin, who had one.

The Beavers stifled the Flames' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. M1 Minot State University did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Beavers average 4.5 goals per game. M1 Minot State University relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Jeremy Johnson, Eric Bollefer and Cole Olson took 19 of the team's 35 shots. The Beavers' defensemen bolstered M1 Minot State University's offensive attack, as they bombarded Halpenny with 15 shots. The Beavers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

M1 Minot State University was led by Brett Nespor, who scored the team's only goal. Nespor scored 17:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Austin Yano provided the assist.

M1 Liberty University incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Connor Beauchamp made 33 saves for the Beavers on 35 shots.
