M1 Liberty University rips M1 West Virginia University, 3-0

The M1 Liberty University Flames had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 3-0 win over the M1 West Virginia University Mountaineers.

M1 Liberty University's penalty kill excelled, as the Flames gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

M1 Liberty University was sparked by Ryley Egan, who had one goal. Egan scored 8:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Liberty University. Robert Ward provided the assist.

The Flames forced M1 West Virginia University's goalies to work without much rest, launching 39 shots and forcing 36 saves. Eric Schaetzle made 31 stops and Ian Donnan made five. M1 Liberty University stifled the Mountaineers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Others who scored for M1 Liberty University included Cam Bakker and Bram Erickson, who each put in one. In addition, M1 Liberty University received assists from Lindsay LeBlanc, Paul Lamoureux, and Danny Logan, who contributed one each.

M1 West Virginia University was held below its usual level of production. The Mountaineers put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. With 21 shots on target during the contest, M1 West Virginia University exceeded the 2.0 shots it averages per game this year.

The Flames took out Cary Byron after he had made six saves and installed Matt Pinel in goal, where he finished with 15 saves and the win. M1 Liberty University incurred 52 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Mountaineers incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
