Huge game by Ward boosts M1 Liberty University over M1 West Virginia University, 7-0

Robert Ward was all over the ice for the M1 Liberty University Flames, as he tallied two goals and two assists in M1 Liberty University's 7-0 win over the M1 West Virginia University Mountaineers.

Ward found the back of the net 5:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Liberty University and again while 15:23 into the second to make the score 4-0 M1 Liberty University.

The Flames were boosted by Joshua Halpenny, who turned in a shutout with 39 saves. Halpenny certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.62 entering the contest.

M1 Liberty University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six M1 West Virginia University power plays. The Flames put 42 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.7 they average per game.

M1 Liberty University additionally got points from Grant Garvin, who also tallied two goals and two assists and Ryley Egan, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for M1 Liberty University included Christian Garland and Paul Lamoureux, who each put in one. In addition, M1 Liberty University received assists from Kyle Miller, who had two and Chase Harris, Luke Simon, and Cam Bakker, who contributed one each.

M1 West Virginia University's offense operated below its season average. The Mountaineers put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. M1 West Virginia University relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Trey Bracy, Zachary LaDuke and Gerard Clayton took 24 of the team's 39 shots.

M1 Liberty University incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Ian Donnan made 35 saves for the Mountaineers on 42 shots. M1 West Virginia University incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
