Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Davenport University Panthers defeated the M1 Liberty University Flames in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

M1 Davenport University saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Panthers made the score 3-0 on a goal by Everett Thompson at 19:38 in the first period. M1 Liberty University evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Luke Simon at 4:32 in the third period.

M1 Davenport University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Flames to score on any of their three power plays. The 37 shots that the Panthers put on net surpassed M1 Davenport University's average of 9.2 shots per game this season.
