M1 Arizona / University of vanquishes M1 Liberty University in shootout, 6-5 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Arizona / University of Wildcats defeated the M1 Liberty University Flames in a shootout 6-5 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout. M1 Liberty University's shootout goal was scored by Luke Hannon. M1 Arizona / University of's other shootout goal was scored by Alex ODea.

The Wildcats overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. M1 Arizona / University of was down 5-2 after a goal by the Flames' Hannon at 19:27 in the second period. The Wildcats tied things up at 5-5 on a power play goal by ODea at 15:41 in the third period.

Robbie Wilkinson had a great game for M1 Arizona / University of, netting two goals. Wilkinson scored on the power play at 4:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 M1 Arizona / University of and again while 11:56 into the third to make the score 5-4 M1 Liberty University.

The Wildcats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 30 shots on goal during the game, better than the 6.7 shots per game they average. M1 Arizona / University of found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Wildcats have scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign. M1 Arizona / University of capitalized on M1 Liberty University's penalties, netting four goals while skating with a man advantage. In addition, M1 Liberty University received assists from Matt Sherry, Chase Harris, Luke Simon, Cam Bakker, Ryley Egan, Ryan Kerr, and Steven Bellew, who contributed one each.

Garrett Patrick recorded 41 saves for M1 Arizona / University of. M1 Liberty University's Matt Pinel stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Flames incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
