Guelph uses shootout to best Waterloo, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Guelph Hurricanes defeated the Waterloo Siskins in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

Guelph pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

The Hurricanes forced Waterloo goalie Evgeny Kiselev to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Guelph was helped by Jason DaSilva, who registered one goal. DaSilva scored 9:35 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Guelph also had goals scored by Brooker Muir and Ryan Migliaccio, who scored one goal each. In addition, Guelph received assists from Craig Martini, Peyton Backus, Brody Milne, and Dylan Sayle, who each chipped in one.

The Siskins' offense rang up 35 shots on the Hurricanes' net. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Waterloo was helped by Matt Romund, who grabbed one goal. Romund scored 4:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo. Christian Mroczkowski assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Waterloo included Eric Cimino and Michael Romund, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Evan Kearns, Luke Gazzola, Matt Doty, and Danny Hanlon, who contributed one each.

Jason DaSilva made 32 saves for Guelph on 35 shots. The Hurricanes registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Kiselev rejected 38 shots on goal for the Siskins. Waterloo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
