Sayle's goals lift Guelph to 5-2 victory over Brantford

Dylan Sayle had two goals to lead the Guelph Hurricanes to a 5-2 victory over the Brantford 99ers.

Sayle's tallies came at 10:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Guelph and 6:07 into the third to make the score 3-2 Guelph.

Guelph's penalty kill excelled, as the Hurricanes gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:30 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Guelph racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Hurricanes surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Guelph stifled Brantford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 99ers were unable to stop the Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Guelph eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Guelph also got points from Patrick Kudla, who also had one goal and one assist, Brooker Muir, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Peyton Backus, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Sebastian Stangherlin, Alex Remedios, Beau Browning, Matt Nightingale, Cameron Stokes, and Jordan Hatzinger, who each chipped in one.

Brantford did not rack up many penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The 99ers ended up below their season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game.

Brantford was helped by Brett Parsons, who tallied one goal and one assist. Parsons scored 3:22 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Zander Pryor provided the assist. Brantford additionally got points from Evan Bidenti, who also had one goal and one assist.

Jason DaSilva recorded 28 saves for the Hurricanes. Guelph registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. For the Hurricanes, Lawrence Pagnan was ejected from the game. Jack Moylan made 34 saves for the 99ers on 39 shots. Brantford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nathan Ferris was ejected from the game.
