Kingsley stymies Stratford, Brantford wins 2-1

The Brantford 99ers relied on the sparkling performance of Mathieu Kingsley in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Stratford Cullitons.

Brantford's penalty kill excelled, as the 99ers gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Brantford was sparked by Matthew Woods, who finished with one goal. Woods scored on the power play 2:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brantford. The 99ers earned a power play opportunity when Nathan Templeman was put in the box for hooking. Zander Pryor assisted on the tally.

Brantford stifled Stratford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Ryon Pereira also scored for Brantford. In addition, Brantford received assists from David Storey, Cole Cummings, and Keegan Alvestad, who each chipped in one.

The Cullitons were held below their usual level of production. Stratford averages 4.0 goals per game. The Cullitons' offense rang up 42 shots on the 99ers' net.

Stratford was led by Matthieu Bourbeau, who scored the team's only goal. Bourbeau scored 18:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Mitch Brooks provided the assist.

Kingsley recorded 41 saves for Brantford. The 99ers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Brantford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Gus Ford was ejected from the game. Nick Redman made 21 saves for the Cullitons on 23 shots. Stratford incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
