Leamington survives Sarnia comeback, wins 3-1

The Sarnia Legionnaires tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Leamington Flyers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

A goal by Mitchell Amante put Leamington up 3-0 in the second period, but Sarnia pulled to within two on Ryan Vendramin's tally 18:37 into the third period.

The Flyers were led by Chris Scott, who racked up one goal and one assist. Scott scored 14:06 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Leamington.

Leamington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Legionnaires were unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Leamington eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

More assists for Leamington came via Tyler Duarte, who had one and Cale Phibbs, who had two.

Sarnia's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Leamington power plays. The Legionnaires did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Sarnia puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game.

In addition, Sarnia received assists from Tyler Longo, who had one.

Michael Barrett recorded 22 saves for the Flyers. Leamington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Legionnaires' Hunter Johnson stopped 40 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Sarnia incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
