Sauder's big game bests Brantford in 9-3 Stratford win

The Stratford Cullitons' Trevor Sauder had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 9-3 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Sauder scored at 5:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Stratford and again while 18:26 into the first to make the score 4-0 Stratford.

Stratford pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 56 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 4:31 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Cullitons' offense rang up 60 shots on Brantford's net. Stratford bested its season scoring average. The Cullitons average 4.4 goals per game.

Stratford also got points from Jared Nash, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Mitch Brooks, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Nathan Templeman, who also registered one goal and two assists. Stratford also had goals scored by Justin Graham, who had two and Tyler Randerson and Jeff McArdle, who scored one goal each. More assists for Stratford came via Matthieu Bourbeau, who had one and Joe Leahy, Shane O Brien, Hayden Broomhead, and Zach Van Louwe, who each chipped in two.

The 99ers were often in penalty trouble, totaling 15 minors and two majors for 80 minutes in penalty time. Brantford surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. The 99ers kept Stratford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nicholas Caldwell made 30 saves on 33 shots.

The Cullitons registered three goals on 13 power play opportunities. For Stratford, Leahy and Carter Allen were ejected from the contest. Brantford's Jack Moylan stopped 51 shots out of the 60 that he faced. The 99ers registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Team's David Storey, Scotty Penwarden, and Zander Pryor were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
