Sarnia rides Johnson to victory over Lambton Shores, 3-1

The Sarnia Legionnaires relied on the sparkling performance of Hunter Johnson in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Lambton Shores Predators.

Sarnia pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

The Legionnaires were led by Ryan Vendramin, who racked up one goal and one assist. Vendramin scored 2:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Sarnia. Riley Babkirk picked up the assist.

Sarnia put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lambton Shores to score on any of its seven power plays. The Legionnaires could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Sarnia puts an average of 6.4 pucks into the net per game. The Legionnaires forced the Predators goalie Andrew Harriman-Duke to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Others who scored for Sarnia included Cody Trowell and Riley Roberts, who each put in one. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Jay Clarke, Nathan Mater, Jordan Fogarty, and Kyler Keating, who each chipped in one.

Lambton Shores' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Sarnia power plays. The Predators' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Lambton Shores finished with 36 penalty minutes.

The Predators were led by Ethan Sarfati, who scored the team's only goal. Sarfati scored 29 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lambton Shores. Colin Burns provided the assist.

Hunter Johnson made 29 saves for Sarnia on 30 shots. Harriman-Duke rejected 29 shots on goal for Lambton Shores.
